Stacey and Shawn were married in the same Bay Area church where her parents were married 27 years ago. It could explain why they were teary eyed on several occasions throughout the day, or it could just be that their daughter wore a stunning dress and looked like such a beautiful princess they couldn’t help themselves. Her mom, Julie, said to me, “Now there are brides, and there are BRIDES. Stacey is a BRIDE.” So much pride. Her dad Roger choked up when he was giving his speech as he talked about giving his little girl away. A lot of Shawn’s family traveled out from Oklahoma and Iowa to see these two wed at Zion Lutheran Church in Piedmont at the end of June. She moved out to Oklahoma to be with her new fighter pilot husband in May. During the reception, Shawn’s brother, Tyler, who also lives in Oklahoma with his expectant wife, said he wouldn’t tell the compromising stories that are normally shared during weddings since he was involved in many of them. Shawn’s dad, also named Roger, said California is quite different from Coon Rapids, Iowa, where he lives. He seemed to have a ball though, not so much while driving on the crazy Bay Area roads when we went to a nearby golf course to take some photos, but certainly while getting his groove on on the dance floor.
