Wedding – Montclair Women’s Cultural Arts Club – Laura & Chris

Celestial meets vintage was the theme of Laura and Chris’ beautifuly decorated winter wedding at the Montclair Women’s Cultural Arts Club in Oakland.
The day began with the ladies at the Clairmont, where Laura put on her beaded feather dress, custom-designed feather hair piece and gold shoes. I was excited when her bouquet – a mix of pink duke protea flowers and pussy willows – was delivered. Gorgeous!
Meanwhile, Chris was at the house they share together nearby in Oakland with the guys getting all snazzy. The bridal party met at Lake Temescal for the couple’s first look. They are a playful pair and Laura clawed a bit at Chris’ shoulder before he turned around to see his bride for the first time. He smiled wide.
A while later at the Montclair Women’s Cultural Arts Club, guests gathered for their ceremony out back. After their vows, sealed with a kiss, everyone headed inside where they were met with alligators, giraffes, stars, glass planets, a paper moon booth, vintage match boxes, typewriters for guests to leave messages and old photos. Laura’s dad made the star-topped cake, a delicious dessert with a layer of lemon and a layer of chocolate raspberry.
After the wedding, Laura, Chris and some of their friends ended the night at the Kona Club in Piedmont, the very tiki bar where they met some five or so years ago during a conversation about pink elephants.
